Here at Coraschatten, we plan to breed one or two litters each
year. Because of the strict breeding standards for the breed,
you can be rest assured that your longhair will hunt. Our
breeding priority is to produce good gundogs with calm, cooperative
demeanors. We are aiming to produce dogs that even a first-time
dog owner could train and handle. Our dogs want to please you
and training them should be a joy.

The German Longhaired Pointer Club of North America has very strict
breeding standards that we adhere to. Before any dog can be bred, he/she must
pass a Natural Ability Test and an Advanced Hunting Test .
These tests are held through the North American Versatile Hunting
Dog Association (NAVHDA, www.navhda.org),
the Versatile Hunting Dog Federation (www.vhdf.org),
the Verein Deutsch Drahthaar (VDD, www.vdd-gna.org)
and the JGV-USA (www.jgv-usa.org).
Please see the Training/Testing
page on this website for more information. Longhairs must have a
breed judge rate the dog’s type, coat, conformation, and temperament. Finally the hips must be evaluated and
rated as "Excellent or Good" through the Orthopedic
Foundation for Animals (OFA) or Hip Dysplasia-Free (A or B) through the Berlin Hip Certification
Organization. |
