Hunting |

Hunting is the most important part of owning a German Longhair.
These dogs have been bred to hunt for over a century. Every
single dog in your longhair's pedigree has passed at least two hunting
tests to prove that they can hunt. These dogs are happiest when
they are outside doing what they were bred for. We will only
sell puppies to hunting homes.

German Longhairs are a member of the Continental or Versatile gundog
group. This means that longhairs are expected to point, track,
and retrieve game. They are also supposed to work in all manner
of hunting situations...everything from sitting in a duck blind and
retrieving ducks to racing through the plains in search of prairie
birds.

Versatile dogs are also expected to retrieve all
manner of game, including furred game. We use our longhairs for
rabbit and squirrel hunting. We also plan to use our longhairs for blood tracking deer should the need arise.
Longhairs show
hunting desire at an early age. The photo on the left shows Gera
(15 weeks of age) proudly holding her first shot quail.
