Acadia was an unexpected gift for us. When we
bred her mother, Kaylee, we really wanted to keep a puppy.
Kaylee is a fantastic dog and I really wanted to pick out a puppy
just like her to keep for ourselves. But when we had the
litter, we decided to give away all of the puppies and import a new
puppy for ourselves instead. We thought that that would be
better for the longhair gene pool and we wanted to do what was best
for the breed. Cadi's new owner was unable to get
her right away when she turned 8 weeks of age and he asked us to
keep her for a few more weeks. A few more weeks quickly turned
into a month and we got more and more attached to Acadia every day
as we anxiously awaited a confirmation for her shipping date.
We were dreading the day that she would have to leave...but luckily,
that day never came and now Cadi will be staying with us
permanently. She is so much like her mother in her
disposition and ability that it is almost scary. She was
retrieving her first mallard ducks at 11 weeks of age and showing a
ton of pointing instinct. And with the way that she just sits
there and looks at you with such a calm demeanor...we couldn't ask
for anything more. We expect very big things from this little
girl and we hope to see her follow in her mother's footsteps. |
